SBA State Testing Schedule and Information

Dear Parent/Guardian:

This Spring, your child will take the Smarter Balanced (SBA) English Language Arts and/or Math Assessment as required for graduation. All 10th Grade Students will take both Math and ELA.  11th and 12th Grade students will take either Math, ELA or both, depending on their graduation progress.. If your 11th or 12th grade student has scored at a College and Career Ready Score, which is a level 3 or higher on these assessments, they will not be required to test.  For specific information please contact your child’s counselor. These state tests are required for graduation.. Please encourage your student to do their best and remind them that they must pass these tests in order to receive their diploma, and graduate from East Valley High School. In addition, OPSI requires that students test, and they use this data to help determine funding eligibility for schools.

The testing window will begin March 11th and will end May 28th. It is important that your student attend school, and be on time every day, but especially during this testing window. While students will not test everyday during this window, their attendance in their classes is important to help them prepare. Students will be testing in three day chunks with additional time offered if needed.

The official testing schedule is being finalized, and will be posted prior to the start of testing.
