EVHS will be operating on schedule tomorrow, Friday, October 18, 2019 Contractors have completed the additional shoring necessary to adequately support the sections of the existing building that are currently under construction. We are excited to welcome our Red Devils back to school tomorrow, Friday, October 18, 2019. We thank you for your patience as we have worked through this construction challenge.
Update: Wednesday, October 16, 2019 @ 3:27 p.m. - Update EVHS Cancelled – Thursday, October 17, 2019 – All other East Valley schools are operating on schedule. As previously communicated, late yesterday afternoon a section of concrete shifted on the southeast side of our existing East Valley High School building. This is the side that is currently exposed due to demolition for the eventual rebuild of our high school. After further evaluation of this construction challenge, project engineers determined that additional shoring is necessary to adequately support portions of the old building. Contractors believe this work will be completed tomorrow afternoon. As a precautionary measure, we have decided to cancel school for tomorrow, Thursday, October 17, 2019, to guarantee the safety of our students and staff. As a reminder, this section of the building is a significant distance from the classrooms that are currently being used to house our students and staff. The FCCLA field trip will continue as planned. This will be a working day for staff and they should report to the main office at their regular start time. The main office in the new building will be open for business from 7:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. As we learn more, we will provide an update for our East Valley community. ------------------------------------------- Update: Wednesday, October 16, 2019 - Late yesterday afternoon a section of concrete shifted on the southeast side of our existing East Valley High School building. Please be aware that there have been reports of students in the Yakima Valley being exposed to a dangerous drug, which appears to be Acid.
